Eva Lindberg (S) holds a commanding 94% implied probability as the next chair of Region Gävleborg’s regional board, reflecting trader consensus that the Social Democrats and allied opposition parties will secure a majority in the September 13, 2026 regional elections and install her in the role. As current second vice chair and leading opposition spokesperson, Lindberg has highlighted priorities such as psychiatry, primary care, and maternity services in recent joint statements with Center and Left parties. The incumbent right-wing majority—comprising Moderates, Sweden Democrats, Christian Democrats, and independents under Patrik Stenvard—faces headwinds from voter confusion over regional governance and shifting local sentiment. Low probabilities for Stenvard (3.9%) and others underscore expectations of a change in control. Late polling swings, coalition negotiations after the vote, or internal party choices on the chair could still alter the outcome before formal election by the regional council.
