The upcoming September 13, 2026, regional elections in Skåne will determine seat shares and coalition options for the next Regionstyrelsen chair. Incumbent Carl Johan Sonesson (M) leads the current Moderate-Liberal-KD arrangement backed by SD support, while Henrik Fritzon (S) heads the main opposition pushing for a shift after years of criticism over healthcare queues and budget priorities. Recent regional council activity, including budget votes and Greater Copenhagen coordination, has kept both frontrunners closely positioned as traders weigh likely post-election negotiations and bloc arithmetic. Lower-probability names such as Anna Jähnke (M) and Lisa Flinth (L) reflect limited shifts outside the two leading contenders, with the outcome hinging on final vote tallies and alliance formations rather than any single recent event.
