AfD leads the September 6, 2026, Sachsen-Anhalt Landtag election by a wide margin in final polls, projected at 40-43% compared with roughly 22-23% for the incumbent CDU. The party’s strong performance in the eastern state reflects sustained voter support for its platform on immigration restriction and regional priorities, with lead candidate Ulrich Siegmund consolidating backing after securing near-unanimous internal nomination. Smaller parties hover near or below the 5% threshold, raising the possibility of an AfD absolute majority in the 83-seat parliament. Other parties maintain a firewall against cooperation, limiting coalition options regardless of seat totals. Late shifts in turnout or polling errors remain the main variables that could alter the outcome before results finalize.
