Recent polling for Chiclayo’s October 4, 2026 mayoral race shows a fragmented field where Edwin Gonzalo Vásquez Sánchez and Elber Requejo Sánchez hold the clearest leads, with other registered candidates trailing by wide margins. Trader pricing reflects this uncertainty, with no single contender commanding a decisive edge ahead of the vote. Key factors sustaining the tight contest include shifting survey results between the top two, the absence of a dominant local party machine, and typical volatility in Peruvian municipal contests where undecided voters and late campaign momentum can alter outcomes. Scheduled debates, official candidate registrations, and any late endorsements or administrative rulings could widen gaps before ballots are cast.
