This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Prime Minister of Romania by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET. To count for resolution, the individual must be formally appointed by the President of Romania and receive a vote of confidence from Parliament, resulting in the official formation of a new government. Any interim or caretaker Prime Minister who does not receive a parliamentary vote of confidence will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Prime Minister takes office by December 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of Romania; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Romania's ongoing political crisis, triggered by the May 2026 no-confidence vote that ousted Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, continues to shape probabilities in this market. President Nicușor Dan has made multiple unsuccessful nominations, leaving parliament without a stable majority after repeated failures to reach the 233-vote threshold. PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu remains the party's formal proposal for a minority or PSD-led cabinet, while center-right parties (PNL, USR, UDMR) have floated Siegfried Mureșan and explored compromises. Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare has emerged repeatedly as a potential consensus or technocratic option amid stalled talks over fiscal policy, EU funds, and coalition terms. With parliament returning from recess and a new designation expected imminently, traders price the outcome as fragmented, reflecting narrow paths to approval and the persistent risk of early elections.
