Tyler Robinson faces trial on aggravated murder and related charges for the September 2025 shooting death of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. A Utah judge ruled on September 1, 2026, that prosecutors presented sufficient evidence—including DNA, ballistics, witness statements, and alleged confessions—to proceed on all seven counts, keeping the death penalty available. Robinson entered a not guilty plea, with the next status conference set for October 23. While the preliminary hearing highlighted a substantial prosecution case, criminal trials carry inherent uncertainty due to defense strategies, evidentiary challenges, jury deliberation, and the presumption of innocence. Traders’ 64% probability on no conviction reflects the pending trial outcome and the gap between probable cause findings and a final guilty verdict.
