Matlow's first-place showing and stronger small-donor base contrasted with Ausley's broader appeal among older voters and labor endorsements, while Daryl Parks' 25% share and subsequent endorsement of Ausley consolidated moderate support without creating separation. Fundraising edges, generational turnout patterns, and the nonpartisan runoff format continue to keep probabilities balanced, with late campaign developments or shifts in undecided voters from the primary likely to determine the outcome before resolution.
