The September 6, 2026, Landtag election in Saxony-Anhalt features the AfD as the clear frontrunner in every recent poll, consistently polling between 41% and 43% against the CDU's 22-23% and lower figures for Die Linke, SPD, and others. This sustained lead stems from voter trends favoring the AfD's state branch under candidate Ulrich Siegmund, with the party positioned to secure the most seats despite its "confirmed right-wing extremist" classification by authorities and a cross-party firewall blocking coalitions. Traders price AfD victory at 99.7% because the election occurs tomorrow and no major shifts have emerged in the final days. A realistic challenge would require an unprecedented polling error or turnout surge among smaller parties, though historical patterns and current data make such outcomes improbable.
