AfD maintains a commanding lead in the September 6, 2026, Sachsen-Anhalt Landtag election due to sustained polling advantages of roughly 40-43 percent against the CDU's 22-23 percent and lower shares for the Left, SPD, and others. This positioning stems from voter shifts favoring the party on issues such as immigration, economic concerns, and regional discontent, compounded by the retirement of long-serving CDU Minister-President Reiner Haseloff and the subsequent campaign of his successor Sven Schulze. Other parties maintain a firewall against cooperation with AfD, which faces constitutional protection agency scrutiny, yet this has not altered the projected plurality. Trader consensus at 99.7 percent for AfD reflects the scale of the gap; only an unprecedented late swing in turnout or turnout patterns among smaller parties would realistically alter the outcome before polls close.
