Chen Chen-chung holds the leading position in the Penghu County Magistrate race, with trader consensus reflecting his KMT nomination as township head, consolidated pan-blue support, and polling leads around 30 percent in mid-2026 surveys. The DPP's substitution of Wu Shu-chin for her injured husband Chen Kuang-fu after his February 2026 fall introduced uncertainty, while multiple independents including Yeh Chu-lin, Hsu Chih-fu, and Chou Ni-an registered in early September 2026, raising prospects of vote fragmentation similar to the 2022 outcome. Recent candidate filings and enforcement actions against election irregularities underscore the competitive field ahead of the November 28 vote, with historical party alternation in the offshore county adding to the assessment of structural factors.
