This market will resolve to “Yes” if Nicușor Dan ceases to be the President of Romania for any period of time between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Nicușor Dan's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. The resolution source for this market will be the government of Romania, however a consensus of credible reporting will also suffice**Nicușor Dan, elected in May 2025 with 53.6% in the runoff against far-right challenger George Simion, remains Romania’s incumbent president as of September 2026.** His five-year term extends into 2030, and no constitutional process for early removal—such as impeachment or suspension—has advanced to completion despite a prolonged government-formation crisis that began after the Social Democrats exited the pro-European coalition in May 2026. Far-right parties, notably AUR, lead opinion polls and have threatened impeachment proceedings, citing the deadlock over prime-ministerial nominations and the risk of snap elections. Dan has continued consultations with parliamentary groups into late August and early September 2026, expressing confidence in securing a stable majority without triggering dissolution of parliament. The caretaker government led by Ilie Bolojan has maintained basic state functions, and no verified legislative or judicial action has removed Dan from office. Trader consensus at 85.5% for “No” aligns with the structural barriers to removal: constitutional requirements for broad parliamentary support followed by a referendum, combined with Dan’s demonstrated ability to keep negotiations alive amid polarization. Late-year developments that could alter this would need to include a successful impeachment vote or major shift in coalition alignments before year-end.
