Current National Weather Service and ensemble forecasts position Atlanta's September 6 high in the mid to upper 90s, with specific guidance centering near 93–97°F amid lingering high pressure and light northwest flow before a backdoor cold front arrives. This keeps readings well above the long-term average high of 85.8°F for the date while remaining below the 97°F record set in 1954. A 20–30% chance of afternoon thunderstorms offers limited cooling potential, and heat indices may still reach the low 100s. The market's heavy weighting toward 96–97°F (44.5%) and 94–95°F (27%) reflects this consensus, with lower probabilities assigned to 98°F-plus outcomes that would require stronger persistence of the current heat dome. Updated model runs and the morning observation will provide the final inputs before resolution.
