This market will resolve to according to the candidate who wins the 2026 California gubernatorial election currently scheduled for November 3, 2026. If the results of the election are not confirmed by July 31, 2027, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on official certification.Xavier Becerra’s commanding position in the California governor race stems from his clear advancement through the June 2026 top-two primary alongside Republican Steve Hilton, following the withdrawal of several Democratic contenders including Eric Swalwell amid allegations. As former state attorney general and U.S. health secretary, Becerra consolidated endorsements from party leaders such as Gavin Newsom and labor groups, positioning him to succeed the term-limited Newsom in a state with a substantial Democratic registration edge. Traders reflect this structural advantage and the November general election timeline, where historical patterns show limited Republican success since 2006. A major scandal, health issue, or significant national political shift could still alter dynamics before election day.
