**Paul St-Pierre Plamondon leads the Parti Québécois in a competitive October 5, 2026, Quebec general election, with recent seat projections and polling averages giving his party the strongest position to form government.** The PQ has maintained a narrow popular-vote edge in most surveys since the campaign began in late August, driven by francophone support and voter dissatisfaction with the prior CAQ administration under François Legault. Christine Fréchette, who became CAQ leader and premier in April 2026 after Legault’s resignation, has seen her party recover modestly in recent polls amid economic messaging and tariff concerns, though it trails in most seat models. Charles Milliard’s Liberals remain competitive in certain regions but have lost ground overall, while the other listed candidates trail far behind in both vote intentions and implied probabilities of becoming premier. Upcoming debates and final-week polling shifts remain the main variables that could alter the current trader consensus.
