Labour leads National narrowly in recent polling averages ahead of the 7 November election under New Zealand’s mixed-member proportional system, with both major parties hovering near 30 percent party vote and smaller parties such as the Greens, NZ First, ACT, and Opportunity drawing significant support that shapes coalition math. Labour’s position as the largest single party in several late-August surveys underpins its edge in trader pricing, while National’s incumbency and governing record keep it competitive but slightly behind. Minor-party thresholds and bloc alignments remain pivotal variables that could shift final seat totals. No major late-breaking events have altered the closely contested dynamics in the past month.
