Recent opinion polls ahead of Berlin’s September 20 Abgeordnetenhaus election show the CDU holding a consistent double-digit lead over the SPD, with the CDU at 18–21 percent and the SPD at 11–15 percent across surveys from Infratest dimap, Forsa, and INSA. The SPD’s weak standing reflects its position as the junior partner in the current CDU-led coalition and limited gains despite changes in its state leadership. With only two weeks remaining, no major late-campaign developments have narrowed the gap, leaving traders with high confidence that the CDU will finish ahead on first-preference votes. Historical patterns in German state elections reinforce that such polling margins rarely reverse in the final stretch.
