July’s data showed a modest +0.1% headline rise and +0.2% core, with energy prices easing amid prior declines. Persistent services inflation, including owner’s equivalent rent and airfares, alongside ongoing effects from tariffs and AI-related demand for electronics, support expectations for a firmer print. The August CPI release, scheduled for mid-September, remains the key near-term catalyst shaping trader positioning around these monthly outcomes.
