China's July CPI rose just 0.5% year-over-year, below expectations amid softer food prices and subdued non-food demand, setting a low base that supports a modest rebound for August. Analysts cite seasonal pork and vegetable price stabilization, favorable base effects, and a slight pickup in energy components as drivers likely to lift the annual rate into the 0.7-0.8% range, while persistent weak domestic consumption and ample supply in key categories limit stronger gains. Official pledges of additional fiscal support add modest upside potential but have yet to shift demand materially. Trader positioning reflects these near-term data patterns and the National Bureau of Statistics release scheduled for early September.
