Recent polling in the final days before the 6 September 2026 Landtag election shows the AfD at 41-43 percent, far ahead of the CDU at 22-23 percent and the Left at 11-12 percent, with the SPD, Greens, FDP, and BSW near or below the five-percent threshold. This support level, combined with possible non-qualification by smaller parties that would boost larger parties' seat shares under proportional allocation, points to the AfD securing roughly 38-41 of the 83 seats. Traders have priced the 38-41 range highest because the latest FG Wahlen and INSA surveys indicate the party will fall short of the 42 seats needed for an absolute majority, while still comfortably outpacing all competitors. Earlier summer trends had shown similar AfD strength without crossing into majority territory.
