United Russia maintains overwhelming frontrunner status in the September 18–20 State Duma election due to its status as the ruling party of power, extensive administrative resources, and the mixed electoral system that favors large, Kremlin-aligned lists in both proportional and single-mandate districts. The party’s June congress reinforced this positioning by tying its brand more closely to President Putin and nominating high-profile loyalists alongside military veterans. Other registered parties face structural barriers, including candidate disqualifications and limited media access, keeping their projected shares minimal in pro-government polling. While war-related public discontent has surfaced in independent surveys, the controlled nomination process, three-day voting format, and exclusion of stronger challengers sustain trader consensus on United Russia’s decisive victory. Only unforeseen legal or institutional shifts before voting concludes could alter the outcome.
