Official statements, however, continue to describe Patel as a key member of the law-and-order team, and no resignation or termination has occurred. The at-will nature of the directorship leaves departure decisions primarily with the president, while any successor would require Senate confirmation. Prediction markets price modest near-term probabilities alongside higher (though still minority) odds of an exit by year-end, reflecting the balance between documented tensions and the absence of decisive action. No major scheduled events such as confirmation processes or high-profile votes are positioned to force near-term resolution.
