This market will resolve to “Yes” if Howard Lutnick ceases to be the US Secretary of Commerce for any period of time between market creation and October 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement of Lutnick's resignation/removal before this market's end date will immediately resolve this market to "Yes", regardless of when the announced resignation/removal goes into effect. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the Trump administration however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Howard Lutnick remains the confirmed U.S. Secretary of Commerce as of early September 2026, actively directing tariff policy, semiconductor investments, and trade negotiations under President Trump.** He has overseen major investment commitments, including frameworks with Japan and others, while implementing targeted tariff relief tied to domestic manufacturing. Recent public appearances and statements, including a September 2 interview on chip tariffs and supply-chain priorities, show no signs of departure. Earlier 2026 scrutiny over his past Epstein ties prompted Democratic calls for resignation and a closed-door House Oversight session in May, but these did not alter his position or produce sustained administration pressure for removal. With roughly eight weeks until the October 31 resolution date and no announced transition, Senate confirmation dynamics, or official signals of change, trader consensus assigns a high probability that Lutnick will stay in the role through that window.
