Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s record $360 million domestic opening has locked in the year’s biggest debut, shifting trader focus to the battle for second place among 2026 releases. Toy Story 5’s earlier $160 million start and The Odyssey’s $124 million bow provide strong benchmarks, while Avengers: Doomsday remains the main late-year swing factor with its anticipated scale and fan anticipation. Market-implied odds reflect tight competition, as historical patterns show superhero and animated tentpoles often cluster near the top, but final positioning hinges on upcoming chart updates and any surprise holdovers or holiday releases that could alter the ranking before year-end.
