**Matt Damon holds a narrow edge in the early 2027 Best Actor market at 26.5% implied probability, driven by strong summer reception for his physically demanding lead in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster The Odyssey.** John Malkovich sits close behind at 24.1% following critical acclaim and standing ovations for his performance in Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine at recent festivals. Andrew Scott (21.0%) has surged on the back of Telluride buzz for Elsinore, while Tom Cruise (17.0%) benefits from Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s direction on Digger and the long-running “first Oscar” narrative. The race remains fluid, with guild precursors, additional festival reactions, and late-year releases likely to shift momentum among this tight group of frontrunners before nominations in January.
