Wild Horse Nine leads early trader sentiment for the 2027 Best Original Screenplay race, fueled by Martin McDonagh’s proven awards pedigree, a stacked ensemble including John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell, and a high-profile November 2026 release that positions it for festival and precursor momentum. Several other original projects sit closely behind, including Obsession, Digger, Fjord, The Debut, and Behemoth!, creating a wide-open field where campaign strength, critical reception after screenings, and guild nods like WGA will prove decisive. With most contenders still months from release or review, the market reflects filmmaker reputation and studio backing more than finished films, leaving room for late surges or shifts once 2026 releases enter the awards cycle.
