Delcy Rodríguez holds a commanding position as Venezuela’s acting president following the January 2026 U.S. operation that removed Nicolás Maduro, with Venezuelan institutions and the military confirming her interim role under Supreme Tribunal rulings that prioritize administrative continuity. She has consolidated power through cabinet reshuffles, military command changes, and alliances with her brother Jorge Rodríguez in the National Assembly, while securing U.S. sanctions relief, oil-sector investment, and diplomatic engagement under the Trump administration. Recent developments, including post-earthquake stabilization efforts and limited opposition talks, have reinforced trader consensus around her continuity through year-end. Potential shifts could arise from internal rivalries within Chavismo, renewed U.S. pressure for elections, or constitutional moves to declare a permanent vacancy, though these remain secondary to her current institutional and external backing.

Formal appointment, recognition by the United Nations, or recognition by foreign governments is not required.
If more than one individual claims to be head of state, this market will resolve to the individual who demonstrably exercises primary governing control within Venezuela’s territory at the specified time.
If no individual exercises effective governing control at the specified time, this market will resolve to “No Head of State”.
Indicators of de facto authority may include control over the armed forces and security services; control over executive ministries and state administrative institutions; enforcement of national laws; issuance of binding national directives; and effective control over the capital and core state infrastructure.
