This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump meets with Mark Carney between market creation and the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". A meeting is defined as any encounter where both Trump and Carney are present and interact with each other in person. An exchange of words, handshake, direct conversation, or other clear personal interaction between the named individuals will qualify as a meeting. Merely standing in proximity, making eye contact, or being present in the same room or event without direct interaction will not qualify. The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting.**Ongoing U.S.-Canada trade tensions and diplomatic frictions shape expectations around any near-term Trump-Carney meeting.** As of early September 2026, negotiations over CUSMA/USMCA modernization have stalled after Canada walked away from talks in August, prompting 50% U.S. tariffs on roughly $20 billion of Canadian goods and matching Canadian retaliation scheduled for September 8. Prime Minister Mark Carney has publicly rejected U.S. demands on cultural and sovereignty issues, while President Trump has criticized Carney on social media and described the impasse as damaging to Canada’s economy. The leaders have already held multiple phone calls and informal G7 exchanges on trade, NATO, Iran, Ukraine, and AI, plus at least one prior in-person Oval Office meeting, but no formal bilateral summit has occurred recently amid the tariff dispute. Traders are watching for signals on whether scheduled multilateral events or renewed bilateral outreach could produce a face-to-face session before key deadlines or political calendars shift.
