Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon have focused on expanding a self-declared security zone several kilometers deep along the border, including incursions into villages in the Tyre district such as Al Mansouri, where tanks, bulldozers, and artillery have crossed established lines in recent weeks. Air and artillery strikes targeted Tyre and surrounding areas earlier in 2026 amid clashes with Hezbollah, accompanied by repeated evacuation orders for the city and its Christian quarter. A U.S.-brokered truce has frayed, with continued Israeli efforts to clear Hezbollah infrastructure like tunnels near strategic ridges, while Lebanese forces face restrictions on access. These ground expansions and persistent cross-border exchanges shape assessments of whether Israeli troops will conduct a deeper urban entry into Tyre itself within any given timeframe.
