France’s fragmented National Assembly, produced by the inconclusive 2024 snap legislative election, continues to drive low probabilities for an early dissolution. Successive minority governments under Barnier, Bayrou, and Lecornu have relied on Article 49.3 and survived repeated no-confidence threats amid budget disputes and opposition from National Rally, left-wing blocs, and centrists. President Macron has repeatedly ruled out calling fresh parliamentary elections before the April-May 2027 presidential vote, citing constitutional limits and the risk of further instability. Traders assign higher odds to a declaration near or after the presidential contest, when a new head of state is expected to dissolve the assembly.
