Apple’s September 9 “Surprise and Shine” event is the immediate catalyst for the foldable iPhone price market, with the device widely expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models as the premium “iPhone Ultra” or “iPhone 18 Fold.” Recent analyst reports from TrendForce, JPMorgan, and Ming-Chi Kuo converge on a U.S. starting price between $1,999 and $2,299 for base configurations, driven by elevated memory costs, a large crease-resistant 7.8-inch inner OLED from Samsung Display, advanced hinge engineering, and 12 GB RAM. Higher-storage variants could exceed $2,500–$3,000. This positions the book-style foldable well above the iPhone 17 Pro Max and in direct competition with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, reflecting Apple’s strategy of entering the category late with a high-margin, productivity-focused device. Limited early production volumes may further support premium pricing at launch.
