The Chicago White Sox hold a 2.5-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central with 74-67 record as of early September, driven by a strong 42-27 home mark and improved second-half form that has positioned them as division frontrunners. The Guardians sit at 72-70 after slumping post-All-Star break, limiting their comeback chances despite a competitive recent stretch. The Twins, Tigers, and Royals trail by 7–11.5 games with sub-.480 winning percentages and limited remaining schedule leverage. Upcoming head-to-head series between Chicago and Cleveland, plus the White Sox’s favorable upcoming matchups, reinforce trader consensus reflected in the current implied probabilities.
