Abdul El-Sayed secured the Democratic nomination in Michigan’s open U.S. Senate race after a narrow August 2026 primary victory over Rep. Haley Stevens, while Mike Rogers advanced unopposed on the Republican side. Genesee County, anchored by the heavily Democratic city of Flint, has consistently delivered large margins for Democratic Senate candidates in recent cycles. Trader pricing reflects this structural advantage, with El-Sayed positioned as the clear favorite to carry the county despite a competitive statewide contest where recent polls show the nominees within a few points. Rogers has emphasized economic messaging and change themes aimed at broader Michigan voters, yet these efforts have not altered the county’s partisan baseline. The November 3 general election timeline leaves limited room for late shifts in local turnout patterns.
