Richard Vereš of ANO leads trader pricing at 59.5 percent for Ostrava mayor after municipal elections on October 9-10, 2026, ahead of incumbent Jan Dohnal of the rebranded srdcOVA coalition at 37 percent. ANO's strong local organization and stated goal of reclaiming the post lost in 2023 underpin Vereš's edge, while Dohnal benefits from incumbency and the coalition's focus on continuity plus cross-border ties with Katowice. Multiple other lists, including those led by Ivana Lucáková Nesétová, Aleš Boháč, Rostislav Řeha, and Lukáš Semerák, remain in single digits or lower, reflecting limited expected council influence. The contest stays competitive because final selection rests on post-election coalition negotiations among the 55-seat assembly rather than direct popular vote, and modest shifts in turnout or preference flows among center-right and opposition blocs could alter the balance before results are certified.
