Parliamentary elections to elect the House of Keys of the Isle of Man are scheduled to take place on September 24, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Chief Minister of the Isle of Man following the 2026 Isle of Man parliamentary elections. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially sworn in. Any interim or caretaker Chief Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Chief Minister takes office by July 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Government of the Isle of Man; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The upcoming 24 September 2026 House of Keys general election creates the primary uncertainty around the next Chief Minister, as the newly elected members will nominate one of their own for appointment by the Lieutenant Governor shortly afterward. Incumbent Alfred Cannan, who has held the role since 2021 and previously served as Treasury Minister, faces re-election in Ayre and Michael amid a non-partisan contest involving 82 candidates across 12 constituencies. Recent cabinet adjustments in early 2026 and voter emphasis on housing affordability have shaped discussions among potential nominees, including sitting MHKs such as Chris Thomas and Jane Poole-Wilson. With no dominant party structure and outcomes dependent on the final composition of the House, trader odds reflect broad uncertainty over which individuals will secure sufficient support in the post-election vote. Scheduled polling and subsequent nomination timing keep the field competitive until results clarify viable candidates.
