Recent polls from late August and early September show the Parti Québécois maintaining a narrow lead around 29 percent, with the Coalition Avenir Québec advancing into second at 24 percent after gains of several points, primarily at the expense of the Quebec Liberal Party now at 22 percent. The CAQ under new Premier Christine Fréchette has improved in suburban and regional ridings while the Liberals under Charles Milliard have weakened outside Montreal. Upcoming debates in September and voter firmness data, with over 40 percent of decided voters still open to switching, keep the contest for second fluid. These shifts align with trader pricing favoring the CAQ for second place ahead of the PLQ, as seat projections highlight tight PQ-CAQ battles that could determine opposition status.
