Reports from May 2026 highlighted discussions for SpaceX launch services to support prototype satellites targeted for early 2027, alongside SpaceX's own FCC filings for up to a million AI-focused satellites and ambitions tied to its IPO. These efforts address terrestrial power constraints for large language models and machine learning workloads, though no binding agreement on space-based deployment has been confirmed. The June 2026 terrestrial compute deal, under which Google pays SpaceX $920 million monthly for GPU capacity through 2029, underscores deepening collaboration but remains Earth-bound. Key near-term catalysts include prototype launch timelines and any regulatory or partnership updates that could clarify orbital timelines.
