Liverpool enter the EFL League Cup tie with Tottenham on the back of their first Premier League win under new manager Andoni Iraola, a 2-0 victory at Ipswich powered by Alexander Isak’s early brace, following a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest. The Reds have integrated high-profile summer additions including Bradley Barcola while managing several injury absences. Tottenham, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, have endured a winless start to the league campaign despite record spending exceeding £300 million on players such as Sandro Tonali, Savio, and Mykhailo Mudryk. Spurs sit bottom of the table with no goals scored in their opening fixtures, ongoing striker shortages after Richarlison’s exclusion from the squad, and defensive vulnerabilities exposed in heavy early defeats. The contest pits Liverpool’s momentum and home depth against Tottenham’s need for immediate cohesion in a new tactical setup.
