This market will resolve to "Yes" if Novak Djokovic officially announces his retirement from ATP Tour professional tennis by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". To resolve "Yes", the announcement must clearly state that Novak Djokovic is retiring or indefinitely departing from ATP Tour professional tennis with intention of not participating in any event that contributes to an ATP ranking. The announcement must come from Novak Djokovic or official representatives thereof. Only announcements which are framed as announcing a departure from professional competition intended to be effective within 12 months of the date of the announcement will qualify (e.g., neither "I will leave competition in 2 years," nor "I will not play forever," would qualify). If Djokovic retires in a qualifying manner but maintains, renews, or announces his intention to participate in the Olympics, that retirement will still qualify. Olympic participation, or participation in a tennis competition which does not contribute to an ATP ranking, will have no bearing on this market. The primary resolution source for this market will be official statements from the named individual or authorized representatives thereof.Novak Djokovic’s first-round US Open exit in late August 2026—his earliest Grand Slam departure in two decades—has intensified scrutiny of his retirement timeline. The 39-year-old ATP veteran, still ranked in the top 10, broke down emotionally on court while battling recurring physical issues including vomiting, cramping, shoulder pain, and back problems that plagued him throughout the season. Post-match comments indicated he would take time to assess whether he could continue subjecting his body to the demands of elite competition. Earlier in August he had reiterated in a documentary that he feels young, has no fixed retirement date, and could play “another 15 years” provided he retains the drive to win titles and stay competitive. His stated goal of competing through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics remains a reference point, yet the recent health setbacks and selective scheduling around Grand Slams have traders weighing the possibility of an imminent announcement against his history of defying expectations.
