Banxico’s unanimous August decision to hold the benchmark rate at 6.50% and its explicit guidance for an extended pause underpin the 90.5% market-implied odds of no change at the November 5 meeting. Headline inflation has eased to 3.12% in July and core to 3.95%, yet both remain above the 3% target with convergence now projected only for late 2027 amid sticky services prices and upside risks from trade policy uncertainty and geopolitics. Weak growth and economic slack support restraint, while analyst surveys and futures pricing point to a terminal rate of 6.50% through year-end. A sharper disinflation or deeper downturn could reopen easing, though renewed inflation pressures would be required to shift the board toward a hike.

Increases or decreases of less than 25 bps will be rounded to 25 bps (e.g. an increase or decrease of 10 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 25 bps). Increases or decreases of greater than 25 bps will be rounded to the nearest 25 bps and will be rounded away from 0 in cases of equidistance (e.g., an increase or decrease of 37.5 bps would be considered to be an increase or decrease of 50 bps).
