The 2026–27 Betway Premiership runner-up market remains tightly bunched because no single side has separated itself after the opening matchweeks amid a balanced early table. Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns sit level on points at the top, but their focus on CAF Champions League commitments and fixture congestion opens opportunities for others. Kaizer Chiefs, revitalized under new coach Fernando da Cruz, have shown improved organization and results, while AmaZulu continue strong recent form with a settled squad aiming for continental spots. Mid-table sides like Sekhukhune United, Stellenbosch, and Durban City have collected points through draws and defensive resilience, and promoted sides such as Kruger United and Milford add further unpredictability. This parity across squad depth, recent results, and schedule demands sustains broad trader consensus on multiple realistic contenders for second place.
