Kalanick raised $1.7 billion for Atoms in July 2026—including a $100 million investment from Uber itself—to advance automation in mining, transport, and logistics, while publicly distancing himself from his former company. Khosrowshahi has signaled openness to selective partnerships on autonomous technology, yet Uber continues executing through external robotaxi alliances and internal reorganization rather than leadership shifts. A sudden governance crisis or Kalanick’s venture stalling could theoretically reopen discussions, though current fundamentals and Kalanick’s trajectory make that outcome remote before the deadline.
