The competitive balance between the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions, both projected as strong NFC North contenders with overlapping talent levels, underpins trader consensus favoring a season series split. The Bears enter 2026 as defending division champions behind Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson, boasting offensive upside but facing secondary injuries including Coby Bryant on IR. The Lions, rebounding from a 9-8 campaign, feature a potent attack with Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Amon-Ra St. Brown, plus an easier schedule, though early defensive absences for safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph add uncertainty. With the Lions hosting on Thanksgiving and the Bears hosting in Week 17, analysts highlight closely matched teams where home-field edges and roster health could easily produce one win apiece rather than a sweep.
