**Democratic candidates hold clear leads in both the Maine Senate and gubernatorial races heading into November 2026, driving the high implied probability for a Democratic sweep.** In the Senate contest, Republican incumbent Susan Collins faces Democrat Troy Jackson following the withdrawal of primary winner Graham Platner amid controversies; recent polling averages show Jackson ahead by roughly three points in a toss-up or slight Democratic lean rated by most forecasters. For governor, term-limited Janet Mills is succeeded by Democrat Hannah Pingree, who leads Republican Bobby Charles by double digits in summer surveys while independent Rick Bennett draws single-digit support, consistent with ratings of the race as likely or solid Democratic. Maine’s recent voting patterns favoring Democrats in presidential contests and the open-seat dynamic in the governor’s race reinforce trader positioning on a combined Democratic outcome, with limited late-cycle shifts reported in the past month.

A candidate will be considered to represent a party by their ballot-listed affiliation or if they are the nominee of that party. Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
If the results of these elections are not conclusively known by March 31, 2027, or if an independent or third-party candidate wins one of these elections, this market will resolve to "Other".
For purposes of this market, a "sweep" is when a party wins both races.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources have conclusively called the relevant Senate and Gubernatorial elections. If all three sources do not achieve consensus in calling the relevant races for this market, it will resolve based on the official certification.
